Horsemanship experience.
Grant Walske has gained a wealth of knowledge of horses and horsemanship in his many years starting young horses, sorting out horse and people problems and, when he finds the time, riding his own horses.

I have had over 30 years experience with horses and those I have started, educated or otherwise helped along the way number in the hundreds. As a youngster in Canada, I didn't have my own but I got by with help of friends, relatives and a local 'dude ranch' up the road.

It was when I moved to a small property in Gippsland in the '70's, and I acquired the Thoroughbred stallion "At Leisure" and a small band of Thoroughbred broodmares that my interest in starting and educating youngsters developed. I bred a few track winners and I turned out some very nice hacks that led and still lead very fulfilling lives making their owners happy in dressage, jumping and general ridin' around.

It was during this period, at a Victorian College of Agriculture and Horticulture equine management course, that I came across the books "True Unity" by Tom Dorrance and "Think Harmony With Horses" by Ray and Milly Hunt. These books, especially Ray Hunts book, struck a chord and really started me thinking more deeply about how horses think and operate and how I needed to get in better tune with them to get their best. This led me to attend clinics by Pat Parelli, but more importantly it led me to Ray Hunt, Buck Branaman and Harry Whitney clinics when they have visited Australia. It also caused me to meet a good friend, Phil Rodey from NSW who shared with me a lot of his wisdom.

I get my information from wherever I can but mostly it comes from the horse. You just need to know how to listen.
